Block planting places more plants near one another during wind pollination. Thin to the recorded spacing and check root-zone moisture as stalks develop. Harvest timing depends on the corn type: sweet corn is picked for fresh kernels, while flour, popcorn, and ornamental types remain longer to dry. Use the product’s maturity and harvest cues when evaluating ears.

Plant it in rows with adequate spacing for optimal growth, and enjoy watching the colorful ears develop over the season.

Tips for planting ornamental corn include ensuring consistent watering and applying organic mulch to retain soil moisture.

Before sowing Glass Gem Corn, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Explore related options in our Growing Guide.
